A former teacher, I have lived in Keynsham for 30 years. I have had a keen interest in the natural world from an early age and have spent many hours walking in the beautiful countryside in North East Somerset.
As your local green councillor, I will work to increase the supply of housing that is truly affordable, in the communities that really need them so that young people in particular are not forced to move out of the area. Alongside this I will work with colleagues and the local authority to increase the range of well paid, sustainable jobs that are not just reliant on the hospitality or tourism sectors, important as these are to our local area.
As a teacher I helped young people, many of whom were from disadvantaged backgrounds, to develop relationships with young people from other communities through sport. I am keen to see wider sporting opportunities available for all young people to enable them to lead healthy, active and purposeful lives. As your local councillor I will work with local youth and sporting organisations, schools and colleges and the local authority to promote and increase participation in sport.
