As a member, you can be as active as you like - from armchair and online support to standing as a candidate for election.
There are monthly meetings for members. Some meetings are open to anyone who is interested in finding out more about the party. We also have regular special events and public meetings - please keep an eye on our news page for details.
We are looking for people to stand for us in the next local elections to increase our number of councillors in England and Wales, and really bring the fight for social and environmental justice to the Guildhall.
Becoming a Green Councillor is not easy. You will not have the money or resources of the other parties. But it means standing up for what is right. It means serving the people. Not the party. Not yourself.
You don't need any experience, just a desire to see things change for the better. You will receive help and support from the local party for your campaign and when you are elected. At the last local elections we grew faster than any other party and our first two councillors were elected. With your help we can really break through.
The Green Party is the only major party that is not 'whipped'. This means that unlike other parties you will not be forced to vote against your conscience. We are the only major party in the Guildhall that rejects tribal voting - you will be free to support good motions from anyone, not just have to oppose them because they are 'from the other side'.
Time is running out for our environment, our services and our communities, and to save them we all need to stand-up and fight for them. Waiting for others to act has not worked. The old parties have failed. It's time to act for the Common Good.
If this sounds like something you are interested in, please get in touch.
We are always looking for members with a little spare time to help out with the local party. There is so much to do to win elections, we rely on volunteers and welcome your help. Whatever skillset or ability you have, you will be an asset to us.
If any of the above roles sound interesting to you, get in touch with our Membership and Volunteering officer. If you have any other skills you think might be useful, whatever they might be, we welcome your help.
