Hi, I’m Jo, and I’ve been privileged to live in Bath since 1999. In fact, I’ve stayed in the same house, for the entirety. Living opposite Victoria Park and being within walking distance of schools and Bath City Centre was a brilliant location to raise my family from.
The use of the past tense here is deliberate, the Upper Bristol Road is now so compromised it is not fit for purpose for any user, whether that’s a walker, driver, bus passenger, or cyclist. This is just one example of weighted, biased consultations being imposed on us, with plans drawn up in academia implemented regardless of the impact.
And why for the first time, I have stepped up to represent the people of Kingsmead within the local council and stop this charade of democracy that our current council is forcing on us.
There is no denying change needs to happen. The climate crisis and social injustice need to be addressed. I’m a Green Party candidate and I will work toward a sustainable society, together with residents. Joined-up thinking is needed if we are going to build fairer communities, leave Bath future fit, and make a tangible difference to people and the planet.
