A café, a new home for the community library, and a space for community and cultural events are coming to Radstock town centre, thanks to Radstock Town Council’s purchase of the Trinity building.
This new community hub is part of a larger plan to revitalise the town centre, offering an accessible space where locals can gather, access services, and host arts, cultural, and business events. It’s a significant step in the Radstock Regeneration Action Plan, which aims to make the town centre more vibrant by repurposing vacant units, reusing brownfield sites, and creating new community spaces.
The action plan, developed in partnership between Bath & North East Somerset Council and Radstock Town Council, has already secured over £700,000 in investment. The town council formally acquired Trinity Church on May 31, marking a key milestone. Initial work will focus on maintenance, with redevelopment plans and additional fundraising to follow.
Radstock was the first town in Bath and North East Somerset to benefit from regeneration action plans funded by the West of England Combined Authority’s Housing and Regeneration Enabling Fund.
Dom Tristram (left), Green Party councillor for Radstock centre ward, said: “We’ve seen the community in Radstock come together to do some amazing things with the support of the town council, but we have sometimes been limited by the community space we have available to us in the existing library building. The new Hub will allow us to help these events reach their full potential with some amazing spaces, as well as giving the council staff and library the space they need. I would like to thank our council staff and everyone involved in acquiring the building for their years of hard work. There’s still a lot to be done, but this is an important milestone.”
Liam Kirby (right), Green Party councillor for Radstock centre ward, said: “I’m so excited for the potential of the Trinity Hub to hand huge benefits for our community – having access to central communal space will make such a difference to so many of us. Radstock is rich with community groups covering all sorts of interests , and I hope many of them will find the space an ideal home. I’m particularly interested in bringing a diverse range of cultural events to the space – concerts, theatre, dancing, all a short walk from our front doors! This could be the beginning of great things for our town.”
Chris Dando, Mayor of Radstock Town Council, said: I’m delighted, after a long period of negotiation and preparation, that we have finally acquired this building for our community. People will soon start to see improvements in the new Trinity Hub, as we turn it into a welcoming space for all. This is the next step in an exciting journey for Radstock and I’m grateful for all the people who are working with us on our regeneration plan for our town.
