The Green Party is celebrating a record-breaking number of councillors in Bath and NE Somerset with three elected: Joanna Wright, Saskia Heijltjes and Sam Ross.
Joanna retained her seat in Lambridge and has been joined by Saskia, replacing the previous Lib Dem mayor of Bath.
Meawhile in Clutton and Farmborough, Sam has become our first councillor ever to be elected in NE Somerset.
This is the first time we’ve won three seats in a local election and means we are now an official “group” on the council, with all the support that entails.
The Conservatives suffered heavy losses and now also have three councillors, making the Green group equal in size.
The count began with a minute’s silence for our candidate Tim Morgan, whom many of you knew, and whose unexpected death has genuinely shocked and saddened all the local parties. He would have been thrilled at this result.
Our councillors, and the party, look forward to representing their constituents and making a difference in the council.
