Sam Ross

I have been involved in our community since moving to Farmborough in 2001, organising village fairs, apple days, and an annual seed swap and green fair which has been running for the past 10 years.

I helped to create the Farmborough Community Plan and after our village shop closed in 2010, I worked with a dedicated group to bring a Community Shop to Farmborough. In only nine months, the shop has become the hub of the village, returning a sense of pride of place.

A keen gardener, knitter and morris dancer, I have a background in environmental science and horticulture, and I also run my own business. This has given me a wide perspective on the views and needs of people from across the area and how we must work together to get the best from our limited resources.

My key issues include the need for better transport for rural villages, supporting the rural economy through local business, and improved community co-operation to share resources.
