Katy Boyce has been selected as the Green Party candidate for Somerset North East constituency, replacing our previously selected candidate, Gordon Ingram, who stepped down due to work commitments.
Katy is 22, a final year student in French and Politics at Bath University, and has been active in politics since 2009. She has helped organise protests about tuition fees and the abolition of Educational Maintenance Allowance, and was the university's Equality and Diversity representative in 2012.
Katy says: "I'm really excited to have been chosen as the candidate for the Green Party for North East Somerset. It's fantastic that the Green Party enables young people like myself, who have already been active in the political community, to get involved with formal politics. It's a time for change in UK politics and I hope to be the fresh faced, enthusiastic and down to earth candidate that people deserve. I look forward to getting to know the people of this constituency better and continuing the fight against fracking in the local community. "
