I have lived in Keynsham since 2000 and have been a Green Party member for several years. I am standing as the Green Party candidate in Keynsham South. The ward has seen substantial changes over the last few years with extensive house building adding pressure to local infrastructure as well as the Government squeeze on Local Government finance which affects the least well off the most.
In the past year I have been involved in a campaign to persuade supermarkets to reduce plastic packaging on foodstuffs. This has led on to encouraging both BANES and Keynsham Town Councils to adopt policies to reduce their own plastic waste. I have also been involved in trying to set up a community fridge in Keynsham that would give the opportunity for people to use food that would otherwise go to waste.
I would work to help the council enable our local community to become environmentally sustainable and resilient. I also consider it important to work with all groups and political parties to further the common interests of our community.
