Brexit: We Tried. Our Message.

27 June 2016

vote Green

Thank you to all who helped B&NES deliver its strong 57% Remain vote. Thank you for turning out and voting in a deeply fractious election.

"Very many people across the UK will feel a profound sense of shock this morning. Whilst we must acknowledge that many people are discontent with the way Europe functions, the divisions in the Conservative Party and weak campaign by Labour have not helped the case for Europe. The Green Party on the other hand led a clear positive campaign on how our membership of the EU has made us greener, stronger and more secure. I pay tribute to the dedicated members who have campaigned tirelessly over the last few months." - Molly Scott Cato, Green MEP South West of England and Gibraltar

Thank you to our members who worked so hard holding stalls, posting on social media, leafleting across B&NES and putting up posters to try and deliver that Greener In message.

We also respect our members who voted Leave for a wide variety of reasons, and hope we'll be able to ensure the UK remains a place where our Green vision is possible.

It was good to work with some friends on the Left, lets continue this relationship to defeat any potential rise of right wing intolerance, bigotry and insular attitudes in B&NES and nationwide.

The nationwide results now show that we must immediately look to heal our broken democracy, and the ugly cracks that appeared during the Referendum. To do this we must keep campaigningkeep pushing forward our shared Green vision.

At our next Green Forum we'll be asking, "What's Next?" We'll investigate what we can do locally to ensure the Green legislation we supported from the EU Parliament is brought into the UK Parliament as soon as possible.

To get involved we would like to invite you to attend our next Green Forum on Wednesday, July 6th. Due to take place in St. Michael's Centre.

Do let us know if you are coming along by visiting our Facebook Event.
